We have instructional videos on this and how to use the app at https://sumofiber.com/managed-wifi/, but feel free to follow the instructions below

  1. Plug the Sumo router into port GE1 on the Utopia fiber modem (mounted to the wall)

  2. Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the WAN port (white) on the back of the Sumo router and wait for a green light (green light means there is a connection)

  3. Download the mobile app in Apple/Google store called “Sumowifi”

  4. Open the app and tap on “Let’s get started”

  5. Scroll down to find a button and tap on “Sign up for an account”

  6. Create an account using your information

  7. Allow camera access and scan the QR code at the bottom of the router

  8. Tap on “Next” (the router will need to be connected to the internet to be able to go to the next step)

  9. Setup wifi name and password

  10. You should be done!

How to add a mesh to the network

1. Plug the mesh unit in the same area as the main Calix base router and wait a few minutes for it to boot up or until the light turns solid red
2. Press and hold down on the button next to the power port for 3 seconds. It should start blinking green (this will last 30 seconds).
3. During the time frame press and hold down the WPS button on the Calix base router until it starts blinking green too
4. This will connect the mesh unit to the base station and will automatically update it, so please give it 5-10 minutes.
5. When everything is complete, the light will turn solid blue/green indicating it is now connected to the network.

NOTE: The mesh needs to be online for this next step

1. Open the SumoWIFI app and tap on “My Network”.
2. Tap on the plus symbol on the top right of the screen and again on “Add Equipment”
3. Scan the QR on the mesh unit and on the next page hit "Next". This should add the mesh unit to the network.
4. You may now move the mesh units to other parts of the house to extend the WiFi!
